Freedive Training Philosophy

Freedive Training Philosophy

At 72 Aquatics by Paragon Dive Group, we recognize that the active freediver is different from the active scuba diver. Freediving is not just about a single course—it requires regular training in a safe environment with trusted, trained buddies. That’s why anyone who completes our Freediver Pool course is welcomed into our ongoing training group, where skills, safety, and community continue to grow together.

Relaxation is the foundation of freediving. To truly progress, students must learn to calm both body and mind, which is why our freediving professionals focus on creating an atmosphere of ease rather than overloading students with skills during breath-hold practice. By developing comfort step by step, freedivers gain the confidence and safety awareness needed to thrive in this unique sport.

Just as scuba divers have diverse goals, freedivers come with different motivations. Some are performance-oriented, aiming for depth and distance, while others are drawn to relaxation and ocean exploration. Many are inspired by spearfishing, underwater photography, or simply the meditative experience of being underwater. Our training philosophy acknowledges these different paths, and our courses are designed to cater to each subgroup of freedivers, helping every student pursue their personal goals while staying grounded in safety and enjoyment.

At the heart of our approach is the belief that the right freedive professional makes all the difference. Emotional intelligence, patience, and passion are just as vital as technical expertise. With this balance, our instructors guide students toward more than just certification—they open the door to a lifelong practice of freediving built on confidence, safety, and joy.
